Arm Lift

An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, is a procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the upper arms and refines the arm contour. Depending on the degree of skin excess, one can opt for liposuction alone (for limited skin excess) or a traditional arm lift where skin and fat tissue are removed. The scar is placed as much as possible on the inner side of the upper arm, making it less noticeable from the front or back view.

How does the procedure work?

During the consultation, it will be assessed whether liposuction is sufficient or if a traditional arm lift is necessary.

  • Liposuction may be indicated for a small fat excess with sufficient skin elasticity; with less skin excess, the scar can be limited to the armpit.
  • In a traditional arm lift, excess skin and fat are removed through an incision on the inner side of the upper arm (typically from armpit to a few centimeters before the elbow), often combined with liposuction for a smooth contour.

The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia and is usually an outpatient procedure; sometimes, an overnight stay is required. There is an option to stay overnight in our luxury suites.

Is this treatment suitable for you?

An arm lift is suitable for sagging of the upper arm due to aging or (significant) weight loss. Complaints are often aesthetic (disturbing in clothing with short sleeves) but can also be functional (hindrance during sports or chafing of skin folds). The goal is a firmer, balanced arm that better matches your body structure.
