Lipofilling
Lipofilling is a technique in which autologous fat is harvested via minor liposuction, purified (filtration/centrifugation), and subsequently injected into the breast to enhance volume and contour. It can be performed independently (for a limited augmentation) or in combination with implants (hybrid approach) for additional coverage and a more natural décolletage. As approximately 60% of the injected fat cells integrate permanently on average, an overcorrection or a second session may occasionally be required.
How does the procedure work?
Initially, fat is harvested via fine liposuction from areas with a modest reserve. This fat is then purified and injected as small, finely dispersed droplets into the breast to ensure uniform integration. Depending on the scope, this procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia and typically as a day treatment. In a hybrid approach, lipofilling is combined with a smaller prosthesis to provide additional tissue coverage and a smoother transition profile.
Is this treatment suitable for you?
Lipofilling is appropriate if you desire a subtle increase in volume or wish to restore volume (e.g., after weight loss or pregnancy), if asymmetry or upper pole volume is a concern (e.g., after a breast lift/reduction), or to address minor contour or volume defects following breast-conserving surgery/reconstruction. For more significant volume enhancements, lipofilling is frequently combined with an implant.
