Breast Reduction
A breast reduction decreases breast volume while simultaneously restoring the shape and firmness of the breast. Often, the areola is slightly reduced and the nipple(s) are lifted to a more youthful position, ensuring the result is better proportioned with your body. This procedure typically involves scars around the areola, vertically downwards, and horizontally (classic anchor scar).
How does the procedure work?
Based on preoperative markings, the surgeon relocates the nipple and areola to the desired position. Breast tissue and skin are removed to reduce and lift the breast. The procedure usually takes about two hours. Since small nerve branches may be severed during the process, nipple sensitivity can decrease; the extent depends on the technique used. Breastfeeding may also—depending on the technique—sometimes no longer be possible after a breast reduction.
Is this treatment suitable for you?
Women opt for a breast reduction to alleviate physical discomfort (such as a heavy bust) or daily life hindrances, and to achieve a more natural, balanced breast shape aesthetically. The goal is to combine comfort and confidence.
