Breast Lift

A breast lift (mastopexy) is a surgical procedure in which sagging breasts are lifted and firmed. Excess skin is removed, breast tissue is redistributed, and the nipple and areola are repositioned to a more youthful appearance. Implants are not always necessary; a breast lift can also be combined with breast augmentation if additional volume is desired. The result is a breast that looks natural and better suits your body.

How does the procedure work?

During the procedure, the surgeon removes excess skin, reshapes the breast, and repositions the nipple and areola. Depending on the degree of lift, scars will be located around the areola and vertically downwards; for a more extensive correction, an additional horizontal scar in the breast fold may be necessary (the classic anchor scar/inverted-T). The technique is tailored to your breast type; possible variations include a classic breast lift, breast lift with lipofilling (autologous fat), or breast lift + implant. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and lasts approximately 2 hours. In practice, a breast lift is often an outpatient procedure, although depending on the situation and approach, an overnight stay may also be advised.

Is this treatment suitable for you?

A breast lift is indicated for sagging or drooping (=ptosis) of the breasts, for example, after pregnancy, weight loss, or due to aging. These changes are often accompanied by reduced firmness, a lower-positioned nipple, and sometimes skin irritation or discomfort during exercise—a lift can then offer a solution and restore shape and firmness.
